FOUNDATIONS for the Statute of the Association

The need should arise from the necessity of defending BAM as a LIVING MUSEUM, which through its activity to date (33 years) has shown what the practical realization of the concept of a LIVING MUSEUM is in two fields: book art and printing technique, and consequently in a third field: the protection of monuments of material culture – which was rewarded with the institutional APHA award in 2015.

The need for the Association arises from the necessity of DEFENSE OF BAM'S IDENTITY AND PRESERVATION OF ITS DISTINCT AND INDEPENDENT ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS.

This need is more precisely specified by definitions whose main indicators are:
a/ LIVING MUSEUM – participation of the MUSEUM'S SOCIAL SURROUNDINGS in its activity: creative, educational, promotional, etc.
b/ LIVING ART BOOK – participation of artists and amateurs from various art disciplines (CORRESPONDANCE DES ARTS) and their fans in the protection of assets and in the development of the art of the book
c/ LIVING PRINTING TECHNIQUE – participation of professionals and apprentices of dying trades related to it, and of fans, in keeping alive, i.e. in maintaining in operation, monuments of material culture.

To realize the above needs it is necessary to have SOCIAL SUPPORT IN THE FORM OF AN ASSOCIATION, which:

OBECNIE – will help defend BAM against merger with MS as a cultural institution that, as an object, covers a specialized field of art, has different kinds of goals and priorities, and is moreover subject to different supervision and organization.

W PRZYSZŁOŚCI – will help promote BAM in Łódź, in the country and in the world, obtain the necessary funds to preserve the premises in the H.G. villa and to develop activities in all directions that concern BAM as a LIVING MUSEUM.

We appeal to ALL THOSE who accept the above goals of the future ASSOCIATION to declare their willingness to be its MEMBER and to fill in the questionnaire.

At the meeting only then will such important matters be determined as STATUTE, DUES, BENEFITS for members, METHOD OF COMMUNICATION (discussion groups, general meetings, etc).

Posting the Draft Statute on the Project page now is premature and diverts attention from the substance of the matter for too long. (Statutes are boring and in practice are rarely used.)
